The changes in your site are notified faster to the search engines if you have effective site map integrated in your site. Although it does not notify as soon as it is changes, but compared to the site which do not have site map, your site will inform soon. The sit map in the website ensures the easier navigation and better visibility to the search engines.

You do not need to rely only on the external links, while you have sitemap in your page. Sitemap can bring the traffic which you need. It can also repairs the broken internal links and ensures free flow of search engines through your site. 

Search engine never knows the classification of your site content or pages. But using the sitemap will help the search engines to classify your web content and pages of your website into categories.

Although the sitemap do not provide huge web traffic to your website, since the search engines still using the beta, but in the near future, using a sitemap might generate huge advantages as the search engines are expected to improve their sitemap indexing algorithms. 

Using the sitemap will be useful, particularly while your site is new or if you have a significant number of new or recently updated pages. The sitemap likely will become the standard way of submitting a site to search engines, the importance of site map will be keep on increasing.

The search engines like MSN and Yahoo still using the HTML format, where as the Google uses the XML format which is different from the ordinary html sitemap for human visitors, for the site map recognition. So better to use the appropriate coding to best suite the site need.

So in today’s context the usage of two different sitemap, one is for the search engine which should be applicable for the Google search engine and other one is for the human. Here one can raise the question about the duplicity of the content, while using two. Google explicitly answered that using sitemap twice in the site will never lead to penalty.

The first step is a little complicated but more effective one as you can customize your own site map, so you will have more control over that too.
But in the second process the generation of sitemap is easy to download and install. There are plenty of free online tools that you can easily use for this purpose. Once the sitemap is created successfully, you can upload it to your site and notify Google about its existence. To notify, Google includes adding the site to your Google Sitemaps account, in case you don’t have a Google account, you can open one.
